I’m excited to announce that the Michigan Chapter will be supporting a 2nd hospital: The Henry Ford.
TPP headquarters was exceptionally busy this past weekend. Volunteers from as far as Ottumwa, IA attended our January 2009 Work Group Weekend. As always, we sent out our desperate plea for volunteers and were not disappointed. Day One (Saturday) was spent sewing flannel on flannel and fleece on flannel blankets. With the help of 15+ hard working TPP volunteers, we finished ~130 blankets for the UIHC NICU and PICU in just under 5 hours. Now that is amazing
We are very grateful for hard working TPP volunteers. They worked so hard that there were a few jokes about “Laura’s TPP sweatshop” being tossed around by some of the seasoned work group volunteers. (They like to give me a hard time and I probably deserve it.) We worked hard but still had a lot of fun!
Even though it snowed A TON, the Gift Wrap fund raiser on December 20, 2008 was still a success. We had to share the table with two other groups, but we still made $544 dollars!
Thank you to Jane Fredericks (Fundraising Committee Chair) and her many volunteers for braving the wintry Iowa weather to wrap gifts for nearly 10 hours. You were troopers!
The New Year brings exciting things for TPP. We have been asked to be a part of the UIHC NICUs “Back to Sleep” Campaign. This campaign is designed to help babies transition from the NICU to home.
To help with this campaign, the NICU is asking us to sew a blanket sleeper for every baby at their unit. These sleepers are designed to help babies sleep once they go home and are used to decrease the incidence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
