Community Support and Service Projects
We have some very special and wonderful supporters we would like to thank for their contributions this quarter.
Senior Service Project

Emily Wolf is a high school senior from New York who choose to knit hats for babies in Iowa as her senior service project. At her high school, students who complete 300 hours of community service are given a ribbon to wear at graduation. Emily chose TPP as the beneficiary of her work after she researched “to find the right place where my hats would be used to help families in need”. Emily also said that she “felt drawn to TPP and I hopes all is well in Iowa as she prays TPP continues to help others”. The culmination of Emily’s project was sending us 25 completed, adorable, knit preemie hats. TPP thank’s Emily for her service and congratulates her on her hard work. We wish Emily all the best as she starts college in the fall!

Conair Knits for a Cause!
The Conair Corporation has been busy knitting for a cause. In January the call went out asking all Conair knitters and crocheters to craft baby caps for the needy. Over 25 Conair employees, their friends and relatives responded to the call and provided more than 200 caps. Local charities in CT and PA were chosen to receive caps, along with TPP. Jennifer Frentress, a Conair Employee, hails from the Hawkeye State and suggested sending hats our way. On June 1, 2009 we were thrilled to receive an assortment of 40 baby hats. Thank to to the Conair family for supporting babies in Iowa!
Knit Picks: Speed Knitters Contest
In celebration of Knit in Public Day, Knit Picks sponsored a contest on their message boards in support of TPP. They challenged their members to knit as many newborn hats as they could during the weekend of June 13th-14th. Click here to read all about the contest details. Members of the message boards enthusiastically complete 86 hats in one weekend! We have been thrilled as the days have begun to arrive in the mail. Congratulations to the winners Ruthmci and Knit4Many who each knit 13 hats in two days. WOW! Thank you to Knit Picks and all of the knitters for your support.
