I See Pumpkins
October is just around the corner and that means Pumpkin Hats are poppin up all over the Aker house
I thought I would give you all a look at more of the creativity of our volunteers.
Look at the leaves on this hat made by Chris Miller. You can find a pattern for knitting a leaf on our website
Leaf For Pumpkin Hat
I have made these so you know that it is not too hard. It really makes the hat special. Who wouldn’t love to see that on their tiny baby.
Now look at the spiral on this one made by Chris Miller. How does she do that? Does anyone know where there might be a pattern for this that we could link to. It is too precious.
We have more work to do yet. I better get off the computer and get my needles clickin.

Here is an email reply that I got from Chris describing how to make the LEAVES and TWISTIES:
Linda, It is very easy to make the twisties: I leave a long ‘tail’ and chain 8 stitches, then starting with the second stitch from the hook, 3 sc in each stitch up to the last stitch. Slip st in last stitch, chain 8, 3 sc in each stitch back to the start of that chain, slip stitch in last stitch and break off, leaving a long tail. use the tails to fasten to hat top. LEAVES: ch 6, slip stitch in first st, sc in next, hdc in next, dc in next 2. ch 3 , slip st in same st as last dc, ch 3 ,dc in next 2, hdc in next, sc in next, slip st in last, break off and fasten both ends to hat it is easy once you try it.
