Our Volunteers are great!
We have had an influx of donations this week. Our volunteers have been BUSY! Look at these great blankets with matching hats from Terri Pittman of Guttenburg, Iowa. They are both knit and Crochet.
Everyone has been great about making their blankets larger like the nursing staff has requested. Here is the recommended sizes for blankets.
* Small: 25” to 30” square
* Large: 30” to 38” square
* X-Large: 38” to 50” square
We need many fewer of the smaller blankets. The larger ones are in great demand. The nursing assistants get very excited when I show up with bags and bags full of blankets large enough to swaddle the babies in.
I really liked these hats that were included in Terri’s donation. Look at the pumpkin hat. It is adorable.
Laura’s big boy Oliver was very interested in these cute little hats. This is why we like to have everything in plastic bags. Immediately repackaged these hats. Oliver was banished to the back deck until I was finished sorting donations.

Linda Aker says:
I would imagine that the smaller blanket to lay underneath the baby would need to be of a very soft fabric like Fleece or flannel. I will have to inquire if they have a need for any of these soft smaller ones. It is possible that they ask for the larger blankets because everyone assumes that they only need the tiny ones and they get alot of those.
