Saturdays in Service
On August 29th, The Preemie Project partnered with University of Iowa Residence Life on a new project called Saturdays in Service. On several Saturdays over the school year, UI Residence Life encourages students to volunteer by arranging several community partners for the students to work with. TPP was invited to teach knitting lessons to students on the inaugural Saturday in Service.

Several TPP volunteers met in the Burge Hall Lobby to teach two sessions of knitting lessons. We were amazed at the turn out and interest in The Preemie Project! In total, about 40 students learned to knit!

At the end of the day, four hats were completed, pretty impressive for the sessions lasting only two hours each. Students were able to take their knitting needles, yarn and instructions to complete their hat on their own time.

As always, we had a great time working with the college students and hope to participate in Saturdays in Service in the future.
